TALE OF A CLAN

Roman Mayer, the visionary founder of the jewellery stores bearing his name, was born in 1859 in Pforzheim, a city renowned for its jewellery. Coming from a large, wealthy family, he received a quality education surrounded by influential figures in finance and industry. In Switzerland, Roman Mayer, drawing on a strong family heritage, established a jewellery dynasty that has spanned several generations. The family adventure extends beyond Swiss and German borders, creating a powerful trade network that withstands the test of time, wars, and global economy crisis. Close ties, both familial and professional, support this expansion, with family members established as far as the United States, always maintaining connections to the Mayer family’s roots.

THE MONTREUSIAN ADVENTURE

In 1888, Roman Mayer opened his first jewellery store under the arches of the most prestigious hotel in Montreux, a bustling city. Thanks to the warm welcome and determined professionalism of the family, the jewellery store quickly became a preferred spot for the European elite. The clientele, ranging from empresses to ordinary tourists, receives the same attentive service, weaving relationships that endure through the ages.

The success of this first boutique encouraged Roman Mayer and his descendants to open branches in the most beautiful Swiss resorts, where excellence continued to shine. Despite the challenges of World War I and economic crises, the jewellery store thrived under the leadership of Albert Mayer before being passed down to his daughter Joséphine and later to his grandchildren.
